In June 2024, at the Foundation’s AGM, our members made a brand new “pledge”. The Foundation committed to provide at least £5,000 of support to the Partick Thistle Women’s team in the 2024-25 season.
This promise was important, not just because it involved more than trebling the level of support given in each of the previous two seasons. It also provided important predictability to the Women’s team, when planning their budget for the year ahead.
At the start of April 2025, TJF made its fifth £1,000 payment to PTWFC of the season, fulfilling the promise we made back in June.
We’d like to thank all of our members for playing their part and helping the Women’s team through what has been a challenging season so far. This included having to meet additional costs playing games away from Petershill, while essential improvements were implemented.
Building a partnership
But we didn’t just want this arrangement to be a financial one.
It was also an opportunity to build on the links between TJF and the Women’s team, raising the profile of the women’s game and the hard work put in behind the scenes at Petershill to deliver a pathway for women and girls in red and yellow.
As part of the partnership, it was agreed that TJF would be the Captain’s sponsor for season 2024-25, enabling Jags Foundation members to enter a draw for free tickets to every home game, and the chance to take home a signed captain’s armband.
It’s been great to see smiles on the faces of so many different members on a Sunday afternoon at Petershill.
The full PTWFC team also joined TJF earlier in the season, showing their commitment to the wider Partick Thistle family.
TJF's Petershill January Takeover
The pledge isn’t the only way we’ve supported the Women’s team in 2024-25. The Foundation has also worked with PTWFC on initiatives to bring more fans to games. This notably included our “Takeover” day in January, when you helped us to fund discounted entry for TJF members and a free pie and hot drink for spectators on a chilly afternoon.
That Sunday, the Women’s team also wore the Foundation shirt: a unique piece of Thistle memorabilia with the names of over 530 fans woven into the stripes. The retro stripes proved a lucky omen for PTWFC as they ran out 4-1 winners against Dundee United.
We have already raised an additional £800+ from PTWFC Foundation shirt auctions and player shirt purchases.
Once this, the takeover day and some other fundraising initiatives are taken into account, TJF will have contributed almost £7,000 to the Women’s team partnership this season.
Match-worn shirts raffle
You can help us get over the £7k mark by taking part in our latest members’ raffle. There is the opportunity to win one of eight PTWFC signed match-worn Foundation shirts from that January fixture.
You can take part from just £5 per ticket, with up to 20 tickets being able to be purchased by each TJF member.
The tickets are on sale until 10pm on Sunday 27th April, and the draw will take place on Monday 28th April.
Help us to build a Club for all, with thriving teams at both Firhill and Petershill.
