You will all have seen the news earlier this morning of Kris Doolan’s departure as first team manager at Partick Thistle.
This clearly wasn’t how anyone at the Club wanted this chapter to end. We all know how much our Club means to Kris, and how frustrating recent months will have been for him, just as they have been for the fans in the stands.
It is to both Kris’s and Paul McDonald’s credit that they stepped-up in extremely challenging circumstances just over two years ago to lead the first-team. For someone new to management, Kris galvanised a squad to within minutes of Premier League football and gave a lot of Jags fans reason to believe again.
This season, especially the Club’s recruitment strategy, has obviously not gone to plan. It says a lot about Kris that he has been able to recognise and accept the need for a change. He has never shirked his share of the responsibility for footballing results.
He is, and will remain, a genuine ambassador for our Club. We would particularly like to place on record our appreciation of his support for The Jags Foundation’s fundraising initiatives and events.
We wish both Kris and Paul well with their future endeavours. Firhill will always be a home for them and their families. Once a Jag, always a Jag.
Obviously, the Club Board must now look to recruit a new management team, focused on getting the best possible outcome from this season and to start laying the foundations for next season. We are confident that all supporters will get right behind the team on Saturday against Airdrie.
