Your Foundation Needs You!

TJF is holding a special election to recruit two new directors to our fans board. This is your opportunity as a TJF member to get more involved, help us be a first rate members organisation, and to advocate fan interests more effectively at our Football Club.

All TJF members over the age of 16 are eligible to stand and to vote in the election. This is your organisation and if you have ideas about how to make an impact, we want to hear from you and we need your help.

Those elected in this in-year election will serve until our summer 2027 Annual General Meeting.

What is the role of a TJF director?

Being on The Jags Foundation board carries with it essentially six key responsibilities:

  • REPRESENTATION – making sure that Thistle fans are heard on the things that matter to them – ensuring our fan-owned Club is fan-focused
  • GOOD GOVERNANCE – helping TJF (as a trustee) to hold the Club Board properly to account – ensuring high standards and that the Club is run professionally and sustainably day-to-day
  • TRANSPARENCY – helping to embed a culture of openness and accountability at the Club, where communication with fans, and fan engagement are the default and not just buzzwords
  • COMMUNITY – helping to grow the Thistle support by making our Club an indispensable part of the North Glasgow community
  • FUNDRAISING – growing the membership pledges and delivering fundraising projects to strengthen our Club and pursue members’ priorities
  • HAVING SOME FUN – running events and activities that bring Thistle fans together and deepen our bonds of friendship and shared purpose

What is the role of a TJF director?

We want TJF’s leadership team to have a broad base of skills and experience, to have a reach into all parts of the Thistle support, and to work constructively together to get things done.

Our organisation is entirely volunteer-led, and being a TJF board member does involve getting things done on evenings and weekends around other commitments! If you’ve worked in the charitable or third sector before, this could be an great opportunity to use that experience and help our fans group.

It would be fantastic if you have experience of organising and running events, or have a background in fundraising or an entrepreneurial streak. Doing this well takes time and effort and is about pulling together a team of people with complementary talents.

But we’re also really just looking for people with the time, desire and right instincts to represent their fellow fans, and to helps us amplify their voice and priorities. Engagement, face-to-face and online, is going to be key if we are to grow the Foundation and the Club.

We know that a commitment like this can be a step into the unknown for those who have not done this kind of thing before. If you have any questions about the role, or what it would mean for you to get involved as a director (or indeed as a volunteer) please do get in touch.

TJF’s directors are always happy to chat with fellow fans, and you can approach us (entirely in confidence) at a game, via email, or ask us for a call.

Even if a TJF board position isn’t for you, we’re always keen to hear from members who might be able to volunteer, to help us with our match-day presence, our events and other projects.
