Flying down the wing
The class of 2012-13 was a famous one at Partick Thistle. A blend of level-headed experience and hungry youth provided goals and entertainment week after week, reaching a domestic cup final and taking home the Division One title.
One of the brightest talents to emerge that season was a 5’7” dynamo on the Thistle wing. Stevie Lawless joined the Jags in search of regular football after coming through Motherwell’s youth set-up. Stevie would play 48 times that season, finding the net on 18 occasions in all matches.
He went from strength to strength thereafter, playing regularly and often delighting Jags fans for a further 5 seasons in the top flight.
The Testimonial Year
Now one of the senior players in the squad, the 2025-26 season will mark Stevie’s tenth year of service in red and yellow.
A testimonial committee has been established to honour the contribution of Stevie across his two spells at Firhill.
One of the first events is taking place on Sunday 24th August. There is a Footgolf competition taking place at Footgolf Cumbernauld.
Spaces are available at £20 per person, and teams will play in groups of 5 with one Thistle player in each group.
A proportion of the proceeds will go to support the charity Cadasil Support UK.
