The sustainability of Scottish football depends on it being an accessible and open form of entertainment. It is especially important to bring through the next generation of fans, by enabling young people and families to get to games at an affordable price.
How other Clubs wish to set ticket prices is ultimately a matter for them. However we would wish to comment, on behalf of our members and the wider Jags support, on the prices set by Hamilton Accies for Saturday’s fixture.
It is bad enough that, for a Scottish Championship fixture, the adult ticket price is £25. That is more than any other team charges in the division and comparable to the prices that are sometimes charged for Premiership fixtures.
But to charge £15 for children, let alone regardless of their age, is completely indefensible. Hamilton Accies are pricing-out young families, and frankly, it is their own Club that will suffer most from this short-sighted approach.
We are therefore urging them to think again on this pricing structure, and to come more into line with those adopted at all nine other Championship Clubs.
