I remember the opening game of France 98 vividly. It was a Wednesday. My Auntie Kathleen had picked me up from school. I had just turned 7 years old and was sitting in front of the TV learning how to tie my shoelaces!

It seems like the Scottish men’s international teams since have had trouble tying their own shoelaces. But there’s still something really special about the World Cup.

One of the things I’ve learned since joining The Jags Foundation Board is just how many Jags fans we have based (like me) in London and the South East of England.

“The Nomads” have been a big part of Thistle culture for many years now. I think it would be great to grow that community. We all share the same challenge of securing regular Thrills outwith Firhill, whether we’re in Islington or Indiana, Tower Hamlets or Tallinn.

I figured a London-based get-together some point in November would be a good way to survive this World Cup while living in and around the Auld Enemy’s capital.

I was hoping we could identify a fixture in late November that would suit as many nearby Jags as possible, and then book a space in a central-ish London pub to watch the game. If you’d like to join us, fill in the survey below to indicate which fixture(s) would suit you best. If we get enough interest I’ll then be in touch to confirm a game and venue.

All Thistle fans (and friends of Thistle fans!) and venue suggestions welcome and encouraged! Spread the word to other Thistle fans you think might be interested.
