The Pledges

The Jags Foundation is the primary fan fundraising vehicle for Partick Thistle.

We bring together over 1800 members, including more than 1650 adult members, to provide significant, regular and repeatable financial support to core parts of the Thistle community.

As of October 2025, we have delivered more than £506k of support to Partick Thistle, including more than £447k to the Club, £46k to the Academy and more than £13k to the Women’s team.

We are quickly closing in on #HalfAMillionReasons why Partick Thistle is stronger with TJF.

halfamillionreasons

Core monthly income

Our adult members pledge (on average) about £9 per month each, through membership subscriptions and supplementary donations. This provides the “core” of our income.

We also carry out other fundraising, through fan events, members-only merchandise, raffles and auctions. This has typically raised an extra £1-2 per month per adult member on average.

That extra fundraising allows us to meet our operating costs, to put on events for fans (like our barbecue and hospitality days) as well as to support other community causes (like the PT Charitable Trust and Jags For Good).

Participatory budgeting

Members get to vote on how the core of Foundation funds are deployed, at every Annual General Meeting (AGM).

At the 2025 AGM, we renewed our three “pledges” for the 2025-26 season. Provided that income levels allow, TJF will donate at least

£12,500 per month to the Football Club (£150k in total)

£2,000 per month to the Youth Academy (£24k in total)

£5,000 across the season to the Women’s Team

The Club Pledge

Our main pledge is made to the Football Club. On or around the 1st of every month, TJF donates £12,500 to the Football Club, by standing order.

These funds form part of the Club’s “fan income” forecast for the season.

TJF’s donations are not “ringfenced” to specific expenditure. The broad levels of budgeted expenditure are set separately, as part of an overall breakeven target.

If the Club did not receive this regular funding from TJF, it would likely mean having to run a significantly smaller, less experienced playing squad, making Thistle less competitive and resilient on the park.

Our additional fundraising, in both seasons 2023-24 and 2024-25, enabled us to provide more than £20kpa of extra support to the Club, over and above our pledge. With your help we’d like to do the same again in season 2025-26.

The Academy Pledge

Our Academy pledge has been in place since December 2023. On or around the 1st of every month, TJF donates £2,000 to the Partick Thistle Youth Academy, by standing order.

Sponsorship and donations made up about a third of the Academy’s income in 2024-25, of which TJF was responsible for about a third.

As with the Club Pledge, these funds are not (currently) ringfenced to specific expenditure.

The Women's Team Pledge

Our Women’s team pledge has been in place since the summer of 2024. Over the course of a season, TJF makes five £1,000 payments to the Partick Thistle Women’s team.

As a proportion of the Women’s team’s overall budget, this is broadly similar to TJF’s Club pledge contributions.

As part of this partnership, TJF is the Captain’s Sponsor of PTWFC. Our members are eligible to enter a draw for all PTWFC games to represent the Foundation as special guests, and to take home the signed captain’s armband. This is part of our, and the Club’s wider commitment to grow the game for women and girls.

In the 2024-25 season, we were able to supplement the PTWFC pledge with additional fundraising (mainly through raffles and auctions) and through our Petershill takeover day.

Can we go further?

🚀

At the moment, TJF is close to being “fully committed” – almost all of our net income goes back into the Club through the pledges and supplementary fundraising activity with most of the remainder going to support charitable and community causes.

To do more, we need to grow our membership, and increase the average financial contribution made by each member.

If you are not yet a member of TJF, but support our values and fundraising objectives, please consider joining today.

Membership of TJF is open to anyone from £1 per month, but all members are encouraged to contribute at a higher level if their circumstances allow. More than 1050 of our members already contribute at or above the General rate of £10pm.

If you’d like to change your contribution level, please email us to discuss.

Another great way to help us raise more money is to buy Thistle Pins and other merchandise on our members’ shop.
