We at TJF are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Robert Reid. Robert was more than a historian, more than a club servant—he was the living memory of Partick Thistle.
His encyclopaedic knowledge, his passion for storytelling, and his unwavering devotion to the Club made him a legend in every sense of the word. From his roles as Club Secretary, Vice President, and Honorary President, to his countless matchday tours and warm welcomes at Firhill, Robert’s contribution to Thistle was immeasurable.
“Back when I was in high school, I was doing a project on Thistle for one of my Higher exams. Robert was a familiar and welcoming face at Firhill—so generous with his time and knowledge. He gave me so much detail and encouragement, and in doing so, made me feel like I belonged. That’s what made Robert so special—he helped generations of fans feel part of the Thistle story.”
His legacy lives on in Red & Yellow Forever, in the hearts of those he inspired, and in the very fabric of our Club. We were proud to honour him with a Thistle Pin in 2023, but no tribute could ever fully capture what he meant to the Club.
Our thoughts are with Robert’s family, his many friends, and everyone at the Club who’ll feel the weight of his absence.
